Grace Madeliene Almgren arrived into this world August 23rd, 2000. My wife and I were thrown into a world wind when we received the news of the soon coming challenges that would be arriving with Grace. We were told that Grace would have Downs Syndrome and we were devastated with this news. For the most - because we did not know what this would mean and how are lives would take a turn in the years to come.
Well - Grace was delivered into this world via a C-Section and she was in the Intensive Care Unit for over a week. During this time we were coming to grips with the hurdles we would now be facing - these were difficult times for us. The range of emotions ran its course in our minds and filled our times of reflection and discussion. What would her life be like? Would Grace have a "normal Life" - what is normal anyway? Maybe those with Downs were normal and the rest of us are out to lunch. Who knows!?! What we would find out is that people blessed with Downs are the most precious people we have ever met and they are a blessing to this world.
Here was are first lesson from Grace . . . she would begin to teach us that every life is precious and worth living.

School is Always in Session with Grace
This blog is dedicated to providing resources and life lessons learned from Grace Madeline Almgren. Grace is a very special girl who was born with Down Syndrome and has been a blessing in our lives since she arrived into this world six years ago. Yes, school is always in session with Grace as she teaches us about the little things in life that really do matter.
Anyone out there in this big big world - please share with us the life lessons that you have learned over the years in regards to a Down Syndrome child in your life.
